Millers Yard

Community wellbeing centre offering therapies, classes and spaces for learning, creativity, connection

Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm Saturday 9am to 5pm

Millers Yard is a not-for-profit community wellbeing centre tucked away in the yard, just off Gillygate in York. Founded by Dylan George in 2006, it has spent the past 20 years creating warm and welcoming spaces and experiences that make wellbeing, learning and human connection part of everyday community life.

THERAPIES, CLASSES and WORKSHOPS

People come to Millers Yard to access a range of therapies, join classes and workshops, develop skills through employability and wellbeing training, and take part in activities that bring people together.

Alongside the therapies, classes and workshops led by those based here, we also offer our own wellbeing workshops, events and sound baths. These give people time away from the demands of everyday life - an opportunity to slow down, feel more settled, reflect and reconnect with themselves.

THERAPY ROOMS, STUDIO AND MEETING SPACES

Millers Yard is also home to independent counsellors, therapists and wellbeing practitioners who support people through different stages of life. We offer therapy rooms, a studio, and meeting and training spaces for hire, providing practitioners, teachers, facilitators and organisations a welcoming base for their work.

Millers Yard combines the convenience of being close to the centre of York with a quieter, more personal setting in which people can meet, work and learn.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Our community work has taken many forms over the years. A Way of Being supported young adults through counselling, coaching and wellbeing activities. Create & Connect is our monthly intergenerational activity, bringing people of different ages together through creativity.

More recently, our 20th-birthday Acts of Kindness campaign offered free classes, workshops and sound baths to more than 100 people across York.

We believe that when people feel supported, connected and more like themselves, the positive effects can reach beyond the individual into families, relationships and the wider community. Everything we do is guided by one shared purpose: creating experiences of learning, wellbeing and connection that ripple outwards through kindness and community.
