We are delighted to announce that the sixth edition of our well loved map is due to be released this January 2022. We look forward to seeing it in our member businesses and at the Visit York Information Centre. We have distributed 100,000 to date and continue to grow each year. We have over forty new members in this edition so there is plenty to explore. If you would like a copy of the map then please get in touch and we will happily send one to you.

Eat Out to Help Out Indie York Directory

Restaurants and other food outlets have signed up to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme which will offer 50% off the bill (excluding alcohol), up to a maximum of £10 per person, throughout August. It’s available from 3rd August 2020 - Monday to Wednesday only. The scheme is designed to help the UK's many food businesses. Indie Business Live

Indie York are delighted to be an Ambassador for Indie Business Live.  Through entertainment and messages of support from well known performers, this one day event will highlight to consumers the importance of supporting small local businesses. York is open for business! February 2020 and York is experiencing flooding but the city centre is largely unaffected.

The floods - York is open for business

For many in York last year, Christmas was cut short when the floods of Boxing Day arrived. The city’s plight, along with many other areas around the country, was well documented by the media but it was also giving the impression that the entire city was underwater and a complete no-go zone

The map and Indie York

With the campaign set in motion by the 30 initial businesses, the aim was to turn this negative news of the floods into a positive.

Our first members - interviews and photographs

Over the last few months, with the support of the York BID, the team have been going out to meet the current 30 members to interview them and shoot photos for the map.

Indie York initiative launches

After months of planning and preparations, a new print map and website featuring 100 independent businesses in York will launch on April 27th.
