The Gillygate Pub
Characterful, traditional pub with restaurant and rooms.
The Gillygate Pub first opened in 1816 and is now run by Irish born Brian Furey. The pub has a comfortable, relaxed charm and characterful décor including many unique and original pieces of artwork. Features such as their ‘Whiskey Snug’ and fireplace give the pub a very cosy and warm atmosphere.
At the back of the pub is a beer garden and a large marquee used to house theatre and comedy events such as the annual ‘The Great Yorkshire Fringe’.
Pub quizzes are held every week and homemade meals are also served everyday from 12 – 9pm, including a traditional Sunday Roast. The pub also offers Bed and Breakfast with nine beautifully refurbished ensuite bedrooms to choose from.
“The community and regulars are very important to us and we like to make sure they are looked after”
