The Creative Studio York
Open workshop, studio and designer/maker seller space
By bringing together emerging and established artists and hosting workshops for children and adults in one place, Nicola Stead’s intention is to help people motivate and inspire each other through the arts. Having been part of studio spaces here and in New Zealand, where she ran creative workshops for children, Nicola now teaches Media Makeup SFX part-time and also runs workshops (alongside ceramics, sculpture, jewellery, mixed media and drawing tutors) at the Studio.
Artists and designers can rent space in the studio where facilities include a potter’s wheel and kiln, storage, a small jewellery kiln, an extruder, glazing room and large workbenches for ceramics and jewellery stations – 3D materials will also available for you to buy. There’s also the chance for designer/makers to sell their wares, and the opportunity for creatives to sign up to a mentoring scheme with other artists for feedback and design ideas, fostering a developmental and supportive environment.
“I’ve wanted to establish my own studio space for artists for a while, and this is about building a creative community through learning new skills and workshops.”
