There’s nothing quite like Brew York in the city. The open-plan brewery and tap rooms are housed in a former warehouse down a courtyard off Walmgate and the company is taking York’s beer-brewing credits to new heights. As a 10 barrel brewery, they produce said number of barrels of beer every time they brew which is the equivalent of 40 casks, with each one yielding 72 pints. Plenty of opportunity to churn out even more award winners, then.
With a nod towards modern, hop-forwards and citrusy fruity flavours produced from New Zealand and American hops, there are at least 10 different keg and seven cask beers on offer in the tap room most of year. Look out for the new experimental flavours like the Tonkoko – described as ‘a liquid bounty bar’ – which went down so well it’s now brewed regularly, as well as their beer-themed events.
“We’ve a nice open space where people can sample our beers overlooking the brewery vessels, and a cool beer garden at the back made with recycled pallet furniture which overlooks the Foss.”
